Finance Academy students had a lecture about the Islamic banking
9 of June Huma Sodher, senior lecturer of Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance conducted a lecture at the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation. Ms. Sodher arrived in Moscow at the invitation of Russian Mufties Council for participation in the International Conference "Islamic Finance: Development in Russia"
Lecture was preceded by a meeting of the foreign teacher with a vice-rector for international cooperation, doctor of historical sciences, Professor Vsevolod Vladimirovich Doumny. The meeting was also attended by the doctor of economic sciences, professor, Head of the Department of "International monetary and financial relations" Irina Zotovna Yarygina, who told of the impending study program in the field of Islamic finance. The participants expressed their wishes about the possibility of cooperation between the two educational institutions in different areas: the exchange of experience, research working, training in the field of Islamic finance - a sphere which is becoming increasingly important and challenging in today's world.
After that a lecture was held the main audience of which were the students of the program the second higher education. The lecture aroused great interest of the audience, as numerous questions were asked about the distinguishes between Islamic and traditional banking systems, the basic tools and services of Islamic banks and other issues. Huma Sodher in a short period of time tried to tell the history of Islamic finance, to reveal the basic principles of work in this area, to dwell on one of the bank instruments - Musharaka contracts, to give many examples from the scientific literature and personal experience.
Saying good bye, Vsevolod Doumny again expressed great hope for further cooperation and gave a memorable gift - a symbol of Russian folk culture - Matryoshka, which will resemble a foreign visitor about Russia.
